Yeewi at “Égalité en Lumière”: March 8, 2025, a Day of Action for Women’s Rights

On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, Yeewi was invited to take part in the event Égalité en Lumière, organized by the French Embassy in Senegal. It was a day dedicated to sharing, raising awareness, and rallying youth mobilization for equality.

Awareness workshops on menstrual health

Throughout the day, Yeewi led awareness workshops for more than 200 high school students. These sessions opened up taboo-free discussions on menstrual health, period poverty, and more broadly, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
Our goal: to inform, deconstruct stigmas, foster a safe space for dialogue, and equip young people with the tools they need to understand and champion their rights.

Sign-making: artistic expression in the service of advocacy

Carrying forward our Sign Workshops initiative, students let their creativity run free by designing powerful protest signs that carried their demands and bold messages for greater recognition of menstrual health in schools and communities.
These activist artworks will be featured across Yeewi’s platforms to amplify youth voices and challenge decision-makers.

Games and feminist trivia

To make the day even more participatory, Yeewi also hosted feminist trivia games. It was an engaging, playful way to tackle vital topics: women’s rights, feminist trailblazers, social struggles, and equality.
These moments offered a different way to raise awareness in a warm, vibrant atmosphere, while building meaningful bridges between youth and our mission.

A powerful time of sharing and connection

Taking part in Égalité en Lumière was a truly inspiring moment of connection with youth for Yeewi—an opportunity to listen to their concerns, their ideas, and sometimes their anger, but also to witness their immense creativity and hunger for change.
We are proud to have contributed to this day and to keep building, alongside and for young people, a more just, equal, and committed Senegal.
