Who are we ?
Yeewi — which means “to free” in Wolof — is a Senegalese feminist organization founded in 2020. It acts to improve menstrual health and defend the rights of women and girls. Through its programs, Yeewi promotes their empowerment and protects their fundamental rights, particularly their sexual and reproductive health rights.
What we do ?
Since its creation, Yeewi has been fighting to ensure that every woman and girl, wherever she lives in Senegal, has access to dignified menstrual products and healthcare facilities. We refuse to let period poverty continue to exclude girls from school or prevent women from working. Menstruation must never be an obstacle to freedom.
We break taboos, speak openly about the body, the menstrual cycle, and sexual and reproductive rights, because silence and shame should no longer dictate the lives of women and girls.
Our actions
Workshops, distributions, awareness campaigns: Yeewi acts every day for access to menstrual health and women’s rights.
Our Carte Rose tool helps young girls easily find care and listening facilities.
