Guiss Mbaax Ci Jaam — which means "bleeding in safety" in Wolof — is the very first project launched by Yeewi, brought to life through the collective power and support of our social media community.
In 2020, at the founding of our organization, we led a digital campaign to sound the alarm on the devastating impacts of period poverty on the health, dignity, and daily lives of women and girls in Senegal. Thanks to a crowdfunding campaign, we rallied together and raised 1 million FCFA.

These funds allowed us to purchase and distribute menstrual hygiene products, hygiene kits, and baby diapers. These donations were delivered directly to the Liberté VI Women's Prison, several public schools, and Maison Rose, a safe shelter for women survivors of violence.

Beyond distribution, the project also made it possible to organize awareness-raising workshops on menstrual health, bodily literacy, and reproductive rights, working to smash stigmas, dismantle taboos, and bolster the agency of women and girls.
